Overview
We need you to write the introduction (Literature Review) section for our graduation project titled:
“Preparation and Reactivity Studies of Lolamicin and Its Derivatives.”
The project focuses on the new antibiotic Lolamicin, and we will be working on compounds similar to Lolamicin (analogues or derivatives) that may improve its properties such as solubility, stability, and antibacterial efficiency against Gram-negative bacteria.
We have not yet started the practical part, so the introduction should be fully theoretical and based on the literature provided.
The professor requested that the introduction be comprehensive and detailed (around 25 pages) and include three main sections:
1️⃣ General Literature Review:
- Introduction to antibiotic resistance (AMR) and its global importance.
- The difference between Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
- Why Gram-negative bacteria are more difficult to treat.
- The concept of selective or “smart” antibiotics.
- The Lol lipoprotein transport system and its biological role.
- Discovery and significance of Lolamicin.
- Challenges and future directions (stability, solubility, resistance).
2️⃣ Biological Literature Review:
- Antibacterial activity of Lolamicin and its analogues.
- Effect on resistant bacteria and the gut microbiome.
- Results and biological findings from previous studies.
- Include any relevant tables, charts, or figures if available.
3️⃣ Chemistry and Preparation Literature Review:
- Synthetic methods for preparing Lolamicin and related compounds.
- Mechanistic studies and reaction pathways.
- Structure–Activity Relationship (SAR) analysis.
- Chemical modifications to improve physicochemical properties.
Figures and Images:
- The professor asked that the review includes scientific figures or illustrations from research papers (e.g., Lolamicin structure, Gram-positive vs Gram-negative comparison, mechanism of action).
