Overview
In this assignment, I would like you to find the colors of the 16 substances and color the chemistry-tree. Here is a pdf Download pdfof this document. If you don't like the tree you might draw your own, keeping the same arrangement of the ornaments. The assignment might seem very easy, but the reason I created it is that I would like you to learn how to use a database of chemical compounds.
How to find the colors of some chemicals from the list? I chose two massive databases for you to explore. I also included detailed directions about how to find the information about the colors.
1. Use database of chemical compounds:
https://echa.europa.eu/information-on-chemicals/registered-substances (Links to an external site.)
Simply, place the name of the chemical in a search window (bromine is just an example):
Last step, click at the chemical and physical properties , and follow by Appearance/physical state/color
2. There is another website I would like you to use in case you find Echa Europa problematic:
https://pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/ (Links to an external site.)
Simply type the name of a chemical, and from the list pick the one you are interested in, and find physical properties with a color description.
Attached you will find a pubchem search for lead II iodide.
Take a picture of your drawings and submit as a pdf file.
