Choose an existing product or a made-up product and write a one- to two-page news release (not including title and reference pages) announcing the introduction of the new product using the inverted pyramid format.

In your news release,

• Organize the facts you compiled from researching your product.
  • Create an outline and prioritize the most important or compelling information first.
• Write an impactful introduction of the product.
• Compose a news release lead that answers the reader’s questions: who, what, where, when, why, and how?
• Use APA Style writing format.
  • Refer to the Associated Press Style Guide for formatting.
  • Include the following in your news release: identification (fictitious name and telephone number(s) of the release writer), release date, length, headlines, use proper punctuation and spelling, email protocol, and multimedia releases.
• Identify the platform(s) for your news release (social media, newspaper, YouTube, etc.).
• Create a reference page of the resources you used for content to organize and compose the news release.

• Must be one to two double-spaced pages in length (not including title and references pages) and formatted according to the Associated Press Style Guide.

    • Space should appear between the title and the rest of the information on the title page.

  • Course name and number
  • Instructor’s name
