Announcements for Case Studies and Applications
This week is one of three during the term that we will not read a new chapter but rather we will reflect on chapters read thus far and apply concepts learned to case study readings and discussion sessions.
It is important to prepare and have read the chapters assigned as well as proactively plan ahead by starting to read case studies when the unit opens.
The case studies will have typically 3 questions associated with the reading material but may take the use of resources provided with web links or perhaps a bit of your own search of the Internet. When responding to the questions, you need to provide a complete answer and clearly explain your point(s) but your answer must also be concise. You will only be provided 6 lines to provide your answer. You may work on and save your answer to the 3 questions at various points in the study of the unit and save them but you must remember to submit your answers by the due date so that they may be graded.
Please make special note that the due date for the case study questions is during the week. The intent of this approach is make sure participants in the discussion session (BbD) that will occur during the later part of the week are prepared. In order to make the discussion practical for an asynchronous class it is limited to only 4 days. I do this so that you can learn not only from your initial response but also reflect and engage with the responses of others. The nature of the content of this course is that there is often no clear answer -- but there can be logical alternatives. You must "listen" to what others are saying to see different views and then reflect on differing approaches in consideration of the principles learned and decide if you agree or not on a viewpoint.
