Ancient Persuasion Analysis
The purpose of this assignment is to apply Aristotle’s Ethos, Pathos, and Logos to your life (a communication situation, a conflict you faced, etc) and/or to popular culture (a film, song, commercial, book, speech, etc.). This assignment will include a short paper that should follow MLA/APA for references/sources
Required paper organization:
Page 1: Title of paper and Cover page
Pages 2-4: Your writing and analysis - Start page 2 with your essay’s title followed by the first paragraph (introduction).
Paragraph 1: Introduction - start with a hook, the thesis for your paper, and a preview (Use the following sentence at the end of the introduction: “In this paper, I will define ethos, pathos, and logos and apply the concepts of (choose only 2 of Aristotle’s concepts) separately to ___________, and _____________.”)
Paragraph 2: Define Aristotle's ethos, pathos, and logos. Use at least 2 scholarly sources that do not include our book.
Paragraphs 3-5: Apply ethos, pathos, OR logos to 2 (choose 2 of the 3) different scenarios in your life or popular culture in separate paragraphs. For each different paragraph of application, give us enough detail about the messages or descriptions that capture ethos, pathos, or logos appeals.
Paragraph 6: Conclusion - restate your thesis and preview. End with a reason to remember.
