INSTRUCTIONS
Intro: The movie “You People” explores how intercultural communication plays a role in romantic relationships and the challenges that come with it. The main characters are Ezra, a white Jewish man and Amira whose a Black Muslim woman. In the beginning of the movie, the couple falls in love and decides to get engaged before meeting each other’s families. However, the film shows the cultural clashes and challenges between their families. This makes the couple feel uneasy about being their own identity and how it can create turmoil in their relationship. Despite the conflicts that arise in their family and relationship, the movie highlights the growth and positive aspects that is apart of being in intercultural relationships. Both characters were able to bridge their families together, allowing them to become accepted for their different culture.
