First, summarize the two videos key points. You may say "I am in no way a Mermaid (fish out of water) or an actor or doctor. I don't use words or phrases others don't know."  You might be surprised. Think about all the words and phrases you know as a student, from your job, based on where you live, or your life experiences that others may not be as familiar with.

Thinking about that, our language choices that we make can often be misunderstood by others outside of that group.  Realizing this, second- provide 5 examples of idioms or clichés that you are familiar with (from your culture, whether it be Southern, Northern, another country, etc) that if used with an audience in a public speech setting could cause confusion. Next, provide an explanation of the word or phrase’s meaning.

Examples of idioms, clichés (use ones besides these)

Slow as molasses (slow)

Busy as a stump-tailed cow in fly time. (very busy)

Caught with your pants down. (surprised and unprepared)

Either fish or cut bait. (work or make way for those who will)

Holler like a stuck pig. (complain loudly)

I do declare. (Wow- or I really mean it)
