2nd Matrix Article CD
In this clipAgent Smith and CypherLinks to an external site.
Cypher decides to go back into the Matrix. This raises a question I'd like you all to discuss.
If you had to choose between living on the ship with Morpheus and the gang and living in the matrix as someone who is wealthy. Which would you choose and why?
Remember your first response is worth 5 points and a substantial response to a classmate is worth 3 points and one additional post is worth 2 for a total of 10 points.
Reply to Shayna - I would probably choose to live in the Matrix as someone wealthy. Life on the ship with Morpheus seems harsh and uncertain, while the Matrix, even if it's fake, would offer comfort and security. It’s hard to give up the conveniences of a good life, even if it’s not real. In the end, happiness and survival might feel more important than knowing the truth.
Reply to Michael - If i had to choose between living on the ship with Morpheus and the gang and living in the matrix as someone who is wealthy i would choose to live on the ship. I would choose the ship because it’s not fake it’s not mythical it’s all the truth. It’s real time and everything is reality i would wanna remember what happens even if it’s not the best i’ll know it’s real and reality changes everyday so you never know if it’s gonna be good or bad. I would want to remember everything that has happened in my life even as a child.
Descartes SQ
You were assigned Meditations 1,2 and 3, but you will only answer questions for Meditations 1 and 2.
Meditations 1 1. Why do you think that Descartes wants to do philosophy like a geometrician? 2. Why does Descartes want to “destroy” all his former beliefs? 3. What role do dreams play in “destroying” his former beliefs? Meditations 2 4. What's the point of Descartes imagining that an Evil Genius is deceiving him? 5. How does Descartes ultimately prove that he exists? 6. What is the one attribute that Descartes says belongs to his true nature?
