Overview
Several media/video clips are provided below as examples of group process. They include digital technology and virtual elements, cultural difference among group members, and one dysfunctional meeting that is replayed as a productive meeting. Watch each, paying attention to the following two areas:
- cultural elements that may be influencing the communication
- listening
Then write a 2 - 2.5 page paper, analyzing the communication in terms of intercultural communication and listening (primarily active listening). Use elements from three or more of the clips as examples.
Include three or more of the content areas below:
- the three cultural dimensions
- perception, attitude, belief, or value similarity or difference of the participants
- the presence or absence of active listening behaviors
- any additional listening concepts you notice that affect communication (poor listening styles, barriers to listening, evidence of acceptance)
