Please provide 250words for each of the two prompts below:
6.1.1 ACT (250 words)
Find the ratings for your favorite television shows, web media and radio stations. What surprises you about their popularity (or lack thereof)? Judging from the ads that appear in these shows, who do the producers and advertisers think their audience is (what are the demographics)?
6.2.2 THINK (250 words)
When is the last time you read, saw, or heard a story about media effects? Where did you encounter it? What was the source of the information? What was the outcome?
As part of your ongoing efforts to improve your media literacy, you will need to practice evaluating such reports and asking critical questions. Refining your critical abilities is not the same as ‘criticizing’ the materials you encounter. Rather, critical thinking reflects a stance of curiosity and discernment: Can you analyze and sort claims and judge evidence effectively?
