-You will be doing two evaluations on two students, so ensure they are clear. I have already provided some writing for student #1, finish it and make it sound better. The second student, you can't see them, you can only hear the, so I will provide what they had about delivery.
Student #1: The topic of this speech is to make more playlists and listen to specific genres of music, in order to improve your overall well-being. In terms of delivery, more eye contact, body language, and vocal variety could have been used. When speaking about the benefits that different genres can have on oneself, she could have emphasized and spoke louder. As well, eye contact could have been maintained better, as well as some movement around the classroom. The pace was very good, I was able to understand every word. The delivery of the presentation detracted from the overall presentation, because there were moments where I could have been more engaged, and excited. Music is a way people release their emotions and stress, and by incorporating more vocal variety could have made the audience more engaged.
Overall, her message was effectively communicated. At the end of the speech, I knew what the speaker was talking about. She used both evidence and examples to support her points. She displayed evidence about a study that showed how music can encourage people to reach certain goals and then reconnected to examples that we individuals can use throughout our day to day activities. Ultimately, her evidence was eye catching, since it contained real-life examples and provided details of how we can incorporate music into our lives too.
She connected really well with the audience. As college students who lack motivation, music can be something that can uplift us whether we are walking on campus or studying in the library. I believe that the speaker addressed the audience;s needs and interests by providing knowledgeable information. The speaker really connected with the audience, which made us more interested to learn more about the topic. The audience laughed at a part, which showed they too did connect to what the speaker had to say. The speaker responded to the audience’s reaction very well, because she displayed the speech very calmly and explained it as if she was giving her peers some advice. I STOPPED AT QUESTION #3, but go back to question one and two and fix it.
Student #2:
- Great introduction
- Maintain eye contact a bit more consistently
- Excellent volume and vocal variety
- Slow your speech rate a bit
- Avoid swaying back and forth
- Excellent transitions between speech sections
- Great job verbally citing your sources
- Good use of gestures to emphasize and/or illustrate points
