Project: Email

Time has marched on since you first started at E-MAGINE Biomedical and you have now been Manager of the Hospital Bed Sales Division for 2 years. You have complete faith in your team of 6 sales representatives, who have all been with you the entire time, and you have an excellent rapport with them.

Sales of the E-MAGINE hospital bed have been successful, but it’s time for an upgrade to the original bed to be introduced to keep the company competitive in the hospital bed market.

To refresh your memory about E-MAGINE Biomedical, you may review the case study video. or document from Week 1.

Complete the following scenario by clicking on the image below.

Instructions

After meeting with the Director and your fellow department managers, you are now tasked to communicate this news to your team of sales representatives. The purpose of your email communication will ONLY be to inform your team that there will be an upgrade to the original bed. Do NOT mention the attributes of the upgraded bed - you will do that later on.

Answer the following questions in a document.

  1. What are the important components of an email? (See page 115 in the ebook or page 209 in the physical book)
  2. What should you bear in mind when writing an email with regard to spelling, sentence structure, and tone? Should the email be one huge paragraph? Why or why not?

3. Prepare an effective informational email to your team. Your email should:

      • include all important components of an email that you outlined in #1
      • inform your team that they will have an additional upgraded bed to sell in the new year
      • inform them that they will continue to also sell the original bed version until it is sold out
      • inform them that they will be assigned a higher sales goal
