Reading concept presentation (4-5 slides)

Overview

Reading Concept Presentations (10%): Each week, students will present on the readings. The presentation is a short slide presentation (4-5 slides, between 5 and 10 minutes) at the beginning of class on the assigned reading/topic for that day. Students can work individually or in pairs, but each student must present their own quote, example, and question.

Slide #1: 1-2 sentence summary of reading (assume everyone has read the material before class).

Slide # 2: 1 significant quote from the reading with page number. Explain why you think the quote is significant for understanding the reading and for understanding the relationship between television and citizenship.

Slide #3: 1 example from outside the course materials from television shows, YouTube videos, Twitter, Instagram, news articles, literature, philosophy, historical examples, etc., to illustrate and contextualize the significance of the quote. You should not assume the audience understands the example or its connection so make sure to explain it.

Slide #4: Provide 1 critical question for the class to prompt class engagement and discussion.
