Overview
Part 1
In your text, you are going to use Excel to compute the F ratio. We are fortunate that we can calculate this ratio using the computer as the F ratio is not easy to calculate by hand!
Instructions:
· Open Chapter 14 data set 1
· Once you have opened this data set use Excel and the steps outlined in your text "Using the amazing data analysis tool pack to compute the ANOVA F statistic" or the videos provided in the week 6 reading and resources to run an ANOVA test to determine if there is a difference in score based on the amount of time practicing per week.
· Once you have run the necessary calculations, you will have two tables one for summary statistics and one with the ANOVA test results, copy and paste both into your final Word document.
Answer the following questions:
1. What are your null and research hypotheses? Be sure to include two sets of hypotheses, "written" (word-based) and statistical (symbolic) statement. (10% of this assignment)
2. Based on the p value output ONLY (do not use a critical value), what is your decision regarding the null hypothesis? Explain your decision and provide the value(s) used to make this decision. Assume an alpha level of 0.05. (10% of this assignment)
3. How should these ANOVA results be presented statistically for a journal article or report? This should include your degrees of freedom and other appropriate information as shown on page 279 of your text (10% of this assignment)
4. Although we are not running any post hoc significance tests, what observations can you make based on the descriptive statistics, with regards to differences among the three groups? (10% of this assignment)
Part 2
You are going to explore how to complete a factorial ANOVA.
· In Open Chapter 15 data set 3
· Once you have opened this data set use excel and the steps outlined in your text "Using the amazing data analysis tool pack to compute the ANOVA F statistic (chapter 15)" or the videos provided in the week 6 reading and resources to run an ANOVA test to determine if there is a difference in score based on intervention and nutrition level.
· Once you have run the necessary calculations, you will have two tables one for summary statistics and one with the ANOVA test results, copy and paste both into your final Word document.
Answer the following questions:
1. Is there a significant difference in score before intervention v post-intervention, regardless of nutrition level? Explain your decision. Rationalize your decision by using the appropriate p-value and explaining how it was used to make your decision (10% of this assignment)
2. Is there a significant difference in score between nutrition levels regardless of intervention status? Explain your decision. Rationalize your decision by using the appropriate p-value and explaining how it was used to make your decision (10% of this assignment)
3. Which nutrition level would you say the intervention process is most successful for? Explain your decision using at least one value from Excel. (10% of this assignment)
4. Which nutrition level would you say the intervention process is least successful for? Explain your decision using at least one value from Excel. (10% of this assignment)
