For this module’s discussion, you will explore the gender dynamics when accepting an overseas assignment. Women may face unique challenges as employees of multinational organizations. Consider how HRM can effectively support women who are considering international career moves.
First, review the module resources. Then discuss the pros and cons for a woman who accepts an overseas assignment for a multinational organization. In your initial post, focus on female employees and address the following questions:
- What are the primary pros and cons of accepting an international assignment?
- How would you coach a high-potential female employee considering a career move to China or another country?
- What would make you seriously consider taking such an assignment?
- What factors would cause you to decline the opportunity?
