Overview
How and where will you find appropriate reference articles to use in your research? What makes a good research article? Who could aid you in your search of these? Will you utilize outside support for your paper?
Directions:
Each Writing Journal Entry should be at least 400 words. (A minimum of three well constructed paragraphs.)
- There are specific topics on which you must write. (This is a general writing course, it is not tied to a specific major. You will customize your writings to fit your current or future job functions.)
- Please do not submit journal entries as an attachment. Please cut and paste them from your WORD document into the discussion board.
- When posting, create a new thread in the corresponding 'Forum' located within the 'Assignments' tab.
- Work should be broken into paragraphs. Refer to APA manual on paragraph formatting. Please note, it says paragraphs are indented. Follow proper formatting.
- Title each writing journal as follows: Writing Journal Week 2, Writing Journal Week 3, etc

Journal article: This week's writing assignment is a review of a journal article. You will review one journal article. Strategically, this assignment will build a foundation toward the research paper that is required for the course and due on Wednesday, April 30. The article you review must be a peer-reviewed, published manuscript from a scholarly journal.
1. Select a peer-reviewed article from a scholarly journal that contains information on a topic about which you are interested. To be optimally efficient, select an article that you expect to use as a component of your research paper.
2. Create a title page, including header, page number, and word count.
3. Your journal article review should contain the following elements: (use these sections right in your paper, just like your article does)
a. Purpose of the Research Project--write a summary of the objectives of the research.
b. Explanation of the Method (include subjects, process, analysis techniques)
c. Description of the results of the research project.
d. A summary of the author’s conclusions and the applicability or usefulness of the research.
e. Your assessment of the value of the research project’s contribution to the body of literature and the knowledge in the field and on the topic.
f. Explanation of how this research project will contribute to your research paper. (this is only in this paper, not final research paper)
4. Include a reference page
5. Submit the Journal Article Review (WORD document). Save document as CONS_3450J_Journal_Article_Review_LastName
By submitting a title page, your article review, and reference page, I will have a chance to give you input that you can use in your final paper. I encourage you to include your header as well. Check your APA manual for formatting, also google search APA formatted papers online.
Note: All of your review contents should be in your own words. Do not use direct quotes or very close paraphrasing. Present the review in sections identified with headers presented in #3 a-f. Double-space your paper. Expected length is 3-4 pages (12 pt. font).
