Overview
Part 1: Using the tips from the video, How to Write an Email (No, Really), choose one of the following scenarios and draft a professional email using Word. Each scenario represents a common workplace situation requiring different approaches in email communication:
- Scenario 1: Request for Information You are a project manager seeking specific information from a colleague in another department. The information is crucial for completing a project on time. Write an email requesting the necessary details clearly and politely.
- Scenario 2: Scheduling a Meeting You need to arrange a meeting with your team to discuss an upcoming project. The email should propose a date and time, provide an agenda, and request confirmation of attendance.
- Scenario 3: Follow-Up on an Action Item After a recent team meeting, you need to follow up with a colleague about a task they were assigned. The email should remind them of the deadline and offer assistance if needed.
- Scenario 4: Responding to a Complaint A customer has emailed you with a complaint about a product or service. Write a professional email acknowledging the issue, apologizing for the inconvenience, and outlining the steps you will take to resolve it. (1/2 - 1 page)
Part 2: Copy and paste your email into a free AI tool. Ask the tool to make your email sound more professional.
- Copy and paste the updated email, after your original email, on the same Word document. (1/2 - 1 page)
Part 3: At the end of the word document, describe the differences in the two emails. Which version do you prefer, why? (1/2 – 1 page)
- This assignment should be a total of 1.5-3 pages in length and include your original email, the AI enhanced email, and include the differences between the two emails and which you prefer, all in the same Word document
