Discussion post

Overview

Today, and over the weekend, is the real start to focusing on your Team Project about making recommendations to restaurants in order to:

  • improve their communication
  • improve their image
  • improve their customer service

The first thing you need to do is read this article about the best places for managers or owners to review their websites:

https://thedigitalrestaurant.com/10-best-review-websites-for-restaurants/

This article is going to open your eyes as to how many places people can go to see the positives and negatives about certain restaurants locally, nationally, and even globally. Within this article, there are links to further articles on how restaurant owners and managers can deflect negative reviews and try to build or gain back their restaurant's image, communication, and customer service. Negative reviews can "make" and even "BREAK" a restaurant (especially a small, local business).

One...

You will pick three (3) different restaurants that you are interested in reviewing. These three (3) restaurants should be selected on your company's specific consulting target market (such as only high-end or certain ethnic restaurants or local family restaurants or a mix-up of different types of restaurants). IMPORTANT - Do NOT select restaurants that are considered fast-food or considered a franchise/corporate restaurant - you must also be sure the restaurants you select have a wait staff with servers.

Two...

After selecting your three (3) restaurants, go to 5 of the 10 review sites to search the three particular restaurants you are possibly going to help make recommendations for. NOTE: It is IMPERATIVE that you select restaurants that have some negative reviews; you will not be able to successfully complete your part of this project if there aren't any negative reviews to compare to or build recommendations for.

Three...

On the discussion board, you will indicate to your team which three restaurants you researched, you will indicate:

  • 5 strengths of the restaurant based on reviews you read from the different review sites
  • 5 weaknesses of the restaurant based on the reviews you read from the different review sites
  • IMPORTANT - Make note of the dates of these reviews - it may be possible they had negative reviews, but they were able to turn them around to positive (so, if the most recent are all positive and only old ones are negative, find a different restaurant to consider).

DEADLINE: Sunday no later than 11:59 p.m. (it should be completed so you can discuss in your upcoming team meeting)

SUBMISSION: Discussion Board - Post about Three (3) Local Restaurants that are NOT corporately run or managed (see above directions).
