Week 12, Unit 11 is Live!

Hello, Everyone!

I opened up the Week 12, Unit 11 Modules last Thursday, so be sure to get started on them if you haven't already.

In Unit 11, we get to know all of the Primates!

You will need to be able to identify the different primate species, and we will get to know our primate cousins!

While you don't always need to know the exact species (other than for the Great Apes), you will need to be able to correctly place them in the right clades, such as Strepsirrhines, Haplorhines, Platyrrhines, Catarrhines, Cercopithicidae, Hylobatidae, and Hominidae! That all sounds like a mouthful, but you will get to know what each of these classifications means, and why they are true biological categories.

You will also get to know the basic characteristics that all Primates share, and how we have had to reclassify and redraw some parts of the Primate tree due to our recent understanding of genetics!

Get set and welcome to the wonderful world of Primates—our Family Tree!

Meanwhile, don't forget that you have your Project 3: The Tree of Life, which is due on Friday, April 11th at the end of the week. As with the previous projects, you should open the Project quiz to start it as soon as possible so that you can work on it as much as you like before the due date.

Please let me know if you need any help!

Cheers,

Dr.G
