Description: Media has become increasingly common in our day and age, with many people having access to TV, movies, art, literature, and more recently, social media. Media usage increased during the Covid19 pandemic and some experts have noted addictive habits to media across various age ranges (think; Brainrot). For this weeks discussion, consider the media that you interact with everyday and the materials from this week when answering the questions below.
Procedures:
- Watch/Read the material for this week and think about the following questions as you watch:
- How have you seen activism play out on social media?
- Give a specific example and provide an example (Link to video, the video/photo itself, etc.)
- In what ways does media help or hinder intercultural communication?
- Potential examples could be stereotypes or narratives that break those stereotypes through media representation
- Have you used media to contradict or bolster certain cultural narratives that you are a part of. If not, have you ever considered doing so? Why or why not?
