For this short essay (2-3 double spaced pages), you will reflect upon what you learned in the course and how you plan on implementing the theories and concepts in the future to improve and continually practice your intercultural communication competence.
This is your final journal reflection assignment of the course (out of 3 total). Congratulations on making it to your final assignment!
The purpose of the unit/quarterly journal reflections is to provide a space for you to explore the unit concepts, frameworks, and topics in more depth. This is an analytical reflection, not a stream-of-consciousness presentation of opinions.
For this assignment, you are to reflect upon your intercultural communication competence journey over the course of the term. First, review your notes on intercultural communication competency from past lectures and read Chapter 13 in the course textbook on intercultural communication competency. Then, in your short essay, address the following questions:
- How has your intercultural communication competence journey evolved over the course of this semester?
- Remembering that intercultural communication competence is a journey, how do you plan on applying intercultural communication competence strategies moving forward after the course ends?
You can also consider reflections from the Identity Wheel we completed during the first week of class, as well as any other course concepts and terms that might be relevant for this essay.
Journal Reflection Requirements:
- The journal entry must be 2 to 3 pages (full-length pages, not including the title page or references list).
- It must engage with at least 3 to 4 concepts from the module readings. Please bold your concepts so they are easily identifiable.
- It must cite and incorporate at least three academic, scholarly sources in APA format, meaning with in-text citations and a fully formatted references list.
