    1. Supporting Your Arguments

When making strong claims—especially those involving trends or data—it is important

to support them with evidence. For instance, if you state that the population of a

specific location is increasing, you must include one of the following to substantiate

    your claim:

  • A credible citation from a scientific source.
  • A dataset or statistical table showing the trend.
  • A graph that clearly illustrates the growth.
  • Avoid relying solely on personal observation or general knowledge for such claims.

    2. Using Scientific Sources

Make sure to use peer-reviewed and credible academic sources in your work. Recom-

mended tools for finding scientific papers include:

  • Google Scholar
  • Web of Science
  • Avoid using sources like Wikipedia, ChatGPT, or websites lacking academic credibil-ity. News articles can be used sparingly, but primarily to introduce or motivate the
relevance of the issue—not as your main sources of evidence
  • 3. Citing SourcesTo cite your sources properly, use the APA citation style. Google Scholar provides auseful tool for this. After finding a paper, click on the “Cite” option below the listing.A pop-up window will display various citation formats; please select and use the APAformat.
  • 5. Formatting InstructionsPlease ensure your report adheres to the following formatting guidelines:
  • Font: Arial or Times New Roman
  • Font Size: 11 pt
  • Margins: 2 inches on all sides
  • Reference Style: APA
  • The document must include a title and your full name
