Overview
Write the following questions based on the prompt. Each question should be answered in a minimum of 500 words and a maximum of 1000 words.
1. Watch the movie Iriangle of Sadness (2022), written and directed by Ruben Östlund and starring Harris Dickinson, Charlbi Dean, Dolly de Leon, Slatko Buric, and Woody Harrelson. The plot revolves around a celebrity couple (cisgender male model and cisgender female social media influencer) and their interactions with wealthy vacationers on a luxury cruise aboard a superyacht before and after they become shipwrecked. Consider the roles of the survivors as their story unfolds on the island. What motives are offered to justify rule-breaking behavior by each survivor? Which motives are justified by victimage? Mortification? Transcendence? What is ultimately argued as a justifiable motive for (attempted) murder? Explain. What implications might this film have on various audiences and why?
2. Watch any version of the movie 12 Angry Men. Choices include the classic 1957 black-and-white version starring Henry Fonda and Lee J. Cobb, the updated 1997 color version starring Jack Lemmon and George C. Scott, or the 2007 Russian version (with English subtitles) titled simply 12. Each tells the story of a jury at odds with one another. Battling stereotypes and hidden prejudices, one man uses his storytelling ability to change his fellow jurors' minds.
Examine the movie using the following SCT questions.
Describe the group's makeup. What are the here-and-now tensions they are trying to overcome?
Identify any elements of the dramas: heroes, villains, plotlines, scenes, or sanctioning agents.

Do any stories reveal group members' motives? Emotions? Hidden agendas?
What rhetorical visions emerge? Does any master analogue (i.e., righteous, social, or pragmatic) dominate the arguments?
What are the implications about the power of narratives in a small group setting?
