- “A Lesson Learned” To begin, read Chapter 12 in this week's Learning Resources. Keep what you learn in mind, as you will deliver an informative speech called “A Lesson Learned.” Then, review your Week 2 outline and reread the Week 3 informative speech instructions as well:
This speech is about a life lesson you have learned. For example, think about a time when you followed someone’s advice, and it did not go well. Or a time you didn’t listen to your inner voice. Or a time you knew you shouldn’t, but you did it anyway!
Your goal is to teach your audience a life lesson you learned. You should explain this lesson through stories of what happened (actions) and what was said (words).
Your explanation should also teach the audience something new about this lesson that they did not already know. This is the most personal speech you will give in this class.
Keep these things in mind:
- Your speech should be 3-5 minutes in length.
- Ensure your camera captures your torso (from waist to head).
- Use one presentation aid: a photograph, PowerPoint slide, meaningful object relevant to the story, or any other presentation aid that you think may work.
- Follow the outline you submitted for Week 2's Assignment. Make sure to incorporate the feedback your instructor provided.
- You will submit your speech to the Week 3 Assignment AND to the Week 4 Discussion forum so your classmates can access it.
