Presenting a Poem

Overview

• Find a poem from a book, website, or library that you find compelling and moving. Please find a poem that is ethically appropriate for our peers and audience; avoid explicit, offensive, or potentially harassing works.
• Practice reading the poem out loud because you will need to present the poem to the class. You don't need to memorize this poem.
• Provide the following analysis of the poem in the paper and to briefly share with the class:
  • a. (5 points) Include the poem as the first introduction in the paper.
  • b. (3 full sentences; 6 points) Who wrote the poem? Provide at least 2 facts about the writer .
  • c. (3 full sentences; 6 points) What was the historical time period like? In other words, what were some social or political events happening during the time when the writer wrote the poem?
  • d. (2 full sentences; 2 points) What did you like most about the poem? Be detailed.
  • e. Use at least 2 sources and follow APA or MLA citation format when citing the sources in your paragraphs and in a References or Works Cited page at the end. A failure to provide citations for your research within your paper may result in a 0 grade.
