Overview
M3 Discussion: Classroom Chats and Responses are a place for you to share your personal experiences as it relates to the course content. You are expected to write at least one well- developed paragraph (6 sentences) that refers to the course content for the assignment module. In other words, you are expected to discuss the course content (i.e., videos, readings, presentations/lectures, course concepts) from each week in your chat. While we will not be grading on grammar, spelling, APA etc. in this discussion board, you are expected to write well and in your own words. Copy and pasted material from other sources will not be accepted.
You will be expected to have a total of 2 classroom chat posts in a week; both are due on Fridays. We encourage you to question your classmates and push them to think of issues in depth and with complexity. We will be doing this too. With that said, make sure you post in a way that is respectful of others. While this is more causal writing, you should still have a well-developed theme in each post, rather than a collection of random thoughts.
Original CC Post: To get full credit, your classroom chat post should 1) be at least 6 sentences, 2) discuss at least one of the course materials in relation to either a) a personal or clinical experience, b) another course resource or c) a resource outside the class, 3) provides a reflection on what you have learned.
Reflective writing is a response to new information you gained through learning. It is not summarizing or regurgitating information; rather it is reflecting on what you learned from the information. Reflective writing is an activity that includes description (what, when, who) and analysis (how, why, what if). It is an explorative tool often resulting in more questions than answers.
Response CC Post: Your response should 1) respond to one of your peer’s Original CC post 2) be at least 5 sentences, 3) be about a different topic than your Original CC post 3) compare or contrast your peer’s Original post to a) personal or clinical experience, b) another course resource, or c) a resource outside the class.
Comparing Health Systems: The purpose of this assignment is to compare two different health systems' building blocks and understand how the right to healthcare is impacted in each. In this module, we discuss different health systems and ethics in global health. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends that health systems are evaluated by examining different essential building blocks, as described on p. 122-123 and shown in Figure 6-1 on page 123 in Skolnik. In addition, health systems can be categorized as described on pages 123-124 of Skolnik, including Figure 6.3.
In this assignment, we ask you to examine different health systems on the basis of some of those building blocks. Please define two of the WHO building blocks, and then describe how both are used in each country you select on the assignment. Furthermore, you will complete health system indicator chart using World Bank or CIA World Factbook Data. Finally, please write a short essay comparing the two countries' building block's impact on the health system indicators. Then describe how each system adheres to the right to healthcare for its citizens.
reflective paper: Paper will be a minimum of 3 pages written text, double spaced, 12 pt. font (does not include required cover page). Each paper shall focus on any topic(s) covered within the class that may be expanded on as a result of academic, personal, or class experiences. A reference page should also be submitted when necessary.
