Overview
Part I – Group Project Requirements: (I have already completed making a survey and I have the results, I need help with the paper) SURVEY: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1aBzI9Ds1YiGpdaqME... Responses: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1DTsjBPtdzM...https://docs.google.com/forms/d
- Literature Review:
- What six or more empirical studies did you find?
- What did each study do?
- What were the main findings?
- How do these findings justify your hypotheses?
- Hypotheses and Research Questions:
- What two hypotheses are you predicting?
- What variables are involved in each hypothesis?
- How does the literature support your predictions?
- Are you including a research question?
- Research Design:
- Are you doing a survey or an experiment?
- Why is this design appropriate?
- What are your independent and dependent variables?
- How will you test them?
- Measures and Materials:
- How are you operationalizing each variable?
- What items or questions did you create?
- What materials or stimuli did you create (messages, videos, conditions)?
- How will these measures allow you to test your hypotheses?
- Data Collection:
- Who were your participants?
- How many participated?
- How did you collect your data?
- Did you follow the Comm 88 rules for projects?
- Data Compilation and Interpretation:
- How did you compile the data?
- What type of analysis did you do (means, correlations, etc.)?
- What patterns or differences did you notice?
Part II – Individual Paper Requirements:
Introduction (no heading):
- What is your study topic?
- Why is this topic important?
- What does each of your six empirical studies say (1–3 sentences each)?
- How does the literature justify your hypotheses?
- What are your two hypotheses?
- What is your research question?
Method Section:
Participants:
- Who participated?
- How many?
- Demographics?
- How were they recruited?
Design:
- Was this a survey or an experiment?
- What were your conditions (if experiment)?
- What are your variables?
Procedure:
- What did participants do step by step?
- How long did it take?
- How did you follow ethical guidelines?
Measures:
- How did you measure each variable?
- What example items did you use?
- Where can the reader find the full list of items (Appendix)?
Results Section:
- What analysis did you run (means, correlations, etc.)?
- What were the numerical results?
- What happened in each hypothesis test?
- Were there differences between conditions or groups?
- Did you include any tables or graphs?
Discussion Section:
Interpretation:
- Were your hypotheses supported?
- What is the answer to the research question?
- How do your results compare to past research?
- Why do you think you got these results?
Strengths:
- What aspects of your study were well-designed?
Weaknesses:
- What were the sampling issues?
- What were the measurement problems?
- What internal validity threats existed?
- What external validity issues existed?
- What procedural problems were possible?
- What limitations came from your method choice (survey vs. experiment)?
Future Research:
- How could the study be improved?
- What new studies could build on this topic?
Formatting and Policy Requirements:
- Paper must be 7–8 pages of text.
- Double-spaced, Times New Roman 12, 1-inch margins.
- Must use APA 7 in-text citations and reference page.
- Must include an appendix with measures/stimuli.
- You cannot use AI to write the content (only grammar polishing allowed).
- Your writing must show understanding of course concepts.
- Clarity and organization matter for the grade.
