In Chapter 11 the topics and themes that stood out were Contextual factors. It is very important to learn and get an understanding of the emotional and psychological states of the client. It is also vital to be aware of the visible and nonvisible cultural aspects of the clients' lives. Cognitive Behavioral therapy which is one of my favorites evidence based practices that I use in my daily life as well as in my counseling sessions. In order to maintain a healthy life you must change unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviors to overcome negative moods and other challenges.

In Chapter 13 Termination: Ending the helping relationship this can be a very challenging process for the client and social worker depending upon how the relationship ends. However I can see the benefits of discussing the process of ending as you begin the helping relationship as the client will less likely interpret the ending of the relationship as something personal. It is also important for social workers to know that clients may voluntarily terminate as well and to be mindful not to take it personal as well.

The videos on The House of Horror was very sad to watch however this story does not surprise me. How many other children are suffering in this way and no one knows. However what I would do as a social worker to help them is: I would ask the children what are their needs and what do they feel, think or believe it will it take for them to be healthy, safe and happy. I would walk with them through the process of healing. I would create with them short term and long term treatment plan goals for a better future.

Chapter eleven through thirteen discussed topics like active listening and the ending between you and a client. Active listening is very important when listening to a client to make sure your are giving them your full attention and showing them you care. The ending between you and your client should be a smooth transition so that way the client feels confident on being independent. Both of these aspects are important because they can make or break your relationship with your client. The video house of horrors showed the neglect and abuse the children endured from their parents. As a social worker I would place them in safe and caring homes that help fix their physical and mental state. I would try to keep the siblings in the same home or as close to each other as possible to keep their relationshi
