TWO Assignments that cover Chapter 11 and Chapter 12: DUE Friday January 9th by 11:59 p.m. (100 points)
Part 1: Chapter 11: Analysis (50 points)
Please submit as a word file: Please use proper APA format, font 12 double spaced. Review your work for proper grammatical use, spelling, and format. Save as a word document.
Using the content in Chapter 11: Research an INFORMATIVE presentation of a public speaker. Select an actual presentation. You can go back into history or use current event speeches that have been given.
- Conduct an analysis of the presentation identifying the recommended outline for informative presentations.
- Use the concepts of the chapter in your analysis.
- Begin with a brief description of what the presentation is about (5 points)
- The majority of your paper should be an analysis. Please do not use opinion.
- Base your analysis on the content of Chapter 11 and what was identified as a result of the analysis. It is critical that you clearly identify the components/pattern to an informative presentation within your analysis. (35 points)
- Make any recommendations at the end of your paper based on what you analyzed relative to the presentation and the recommended components of an informative presentation within your textbook. (10 points)
Proper documentation must be included. Please do not provide a summary of the INFORMATIVE presentation, rather an analysis of its content. Your grade will be determined by how well you present and argue your point(s) of the analysis not on how well you summarize.
Part 2: Chapter 12: Verbal and Visual Supporting Material Article Review (50 points)
Search and identify THREE articles on PowerPoint tips.
- Summarize the articles in your own words while internally citing the ideas of the articles within your work.
- Identify the most helpful suggestions that were reflected in these articles. Along with the articles - be sure to support your external research with further points made within your textbook about the use of visual aids to support material and communications used by business and professional speakers.
Be sure to cite the sources you have used in a reference page. Please use proper APA formatting (use the link at the beginning of the course). Assignment should be minimally three full pages of content for both chapters combined.
There will be up to a 20 point deduction for formatting errors and grammatical errors.
*Making the connection*** EVERY assignment requires you to connect the concepts of the chapter to your analysis and research. This has to be evident (not eluded to) within your writing. Therefore, you must cite the textbook internally within your writing and at the end along with your references. Best practices include making the definition of the term and expanding with support with the research that you do. I really need to see your understanding of what your textbook is saying and how you are synthesizing it into your research and analysis. Conducting research beyond the textbook for your assignments - will strengthen the points you earn. All external research must also be cited internally and at the end of your work.
