Overview
TOPIC: Wealth Gap in America
Write a seven to eight page research paper (part of the rhetorical act is to keep within the constraints which in this case would be the page limit) based on a topic of your choosing. The topic should be timely and relevant, and should be part of ongoing critical debates amongst scholars, researchers, and/or other social critics.
The paper itself must be organized around a central argument (i.e., your thesis/proposition), and will be graded on your ability to find and incorporate appropriate research materials.
In this regard, your research should demonstrate the ability:
1) to identify and utilize credible sources
2) to understand, analyze, and evaluate the specific claims and evidence within those sources
3) to incorporate research materials in a way that supports your own thesis (either through corroboration or by critiquing the position/reasoning of others).
To this end, your paper must include a separate Works Cited page (not included as part of the seven to eight-page minimum) with at least ten credible sources. It should be clear how these sources are utilized in your paper. In addition to displaying effective research skills, your paper should also demonstrate sound writing practices. This means that your paper should utilize the organizational and rhetorical strategies discussed throughout the semester and should be free of grammatical and mechanical errors.
