THERAPY APPROACHES
Therapy is a vital part of the field of clinical psychology. As you have learned though, there are different types of therapy. All have their place in the field and are useful for different purposes. In this assignment you will demonstrate what you have learned about four of the main approaches discussed in your text. Specifically, you will distinguish between the four showing how they are distinct in several areas. To do this, prepare a PowerPoint that you might use to explain to a group of new interns in the field how each approach is distinct from the others. The interns are working toward choosing their own theoretical framework for use in their career. Be sure to provide them with clear details that distinguish between the various therapy types.
In an 8–10 slide PowerPoint presentation:
- Distinguish between the four types of therapy you have studied (psychodynamic, client-centered, behavioral, and cognitive-behavioral). Start by both describing and discussing the uniqueness of each type. (Four slides, one per approach).
- Then distinguish between the four by comparing and contrasting the following elements of each approach:
- Theoretical components (1-2 slides)
- Goals of each approach (1-2 slides)
- Implications for treatment; what it actually involves based on the above two categories (1-2 slides)
Be sure to cover each of the four types of therapy for all three bullet points and ensure that your discussion clearly distinguishes ways the approaches are distinct, but also areas where they are similar or overlap.
The presentation should include support from the textbook and at least two additional scholarly sources.

- Presentations are visual; therefore, use clear, concise bullet points and avoid crowded slides. You may include the use of graphics and SmartArt to streamline information in a memorable manner. Additionally, images and diagrams are wonderful presentation tools, but be sure to include all required citations. Please review the Creating Effective PowerPoint Presentations resource for tips and suggestions. Submissions must be in .pptx format and no larger than 40 MB.
- Note: Visual effects and some dark colored themes, such as Slate, may prevent Turnitin from fully processing a PowerPoint file and, consequently, from generating a Similarity Report. Review the file requirements to ensure a report will be generated.
- Reference slide: Sources listed in current APA format.
- Include a minimum of three scholarly or academic sources to support your responses and conclusions.
- Use Arial or Times New Roman 24-point font.
- Use current APA formatting and citation style.
