Communications Question

Conflict Management Assignment (VERY EASY ASSIGNMENT) (SAME DOCUMENT IS ATTACHED BELOW)

Please Be sure to fully read the instructions in this document before starting THIS assignment.

Assignment explanation: As our text states, some authors assert that conflict is “an expressed struggle between at least two interdependent parties who perceive incompatible goals, scarce resources, and interference from others in achieving their goals” (Wilmot & Hocker, 2007, p. 9). While it is imperative that you know, and understand that definition for the course, you do not have to agree with it. In fact, you may find that this assignment can help you choose how to handle the expression of a conflict that you have not yet communicated. Our management of conflict holds major ramifications throughout every facet of our lives. If you have read the text and listened to the corresponding lecture, then you know that well-managed conflict is vital in helping us grow in the strength of our relationships with others. A major aspect that opens the door for optimal conflict resolution and management is forgiveness. Surprised?

Assignment Purpose: This assignment is intended to guide you to reflect on and analyze your own handling of conflict and gain insights from this process.

Grading: You will be graded based upon your understanding, level of insight, and the effectiveness with which you communicate with your group in the group discussion. You will also be graded on grammar, style, word precision and punctuation--see the grading rubric for specific grading details.

Assignment Instructions: Step 1 is the paper –

For this paper, an introduction, body, and conclusion are NOT required.

You will NOT be graded based upon your thoughts and opinions. You WILL be graded upon the level of your insights, how well they are established and exemplified, and the effectiveness with which you communicate them. This includes grammar, style, word precision, and punctuation.

Complete the “4 steps of Forgiveness Worksheet” and write out each step (1-4) in your paper. This worksheet can be found in the following link: http://forgiveness-is-power.com/4steps-worksheet/ . To do this, choose any relationship, past or present, in which you had conflict (expressed or unexpressed). You may change names or depth of details as desired, so long as you show that you understand how you can apply these steps in a conflict.

Paragraph #3: Synthesis Synthesize conflict and forgiveness, discussing whether you believe that your typical style of conflict helps or hinders your ability to forgive or move forward with positive outcomes from your conflict.

Paragraph #4: Relate to your life How do conflict and forgiveness relate to Interpersonal Communication, your life, and relationships?

Paragraph #5: Strengths and Weaknesses What are the strengths and weaknesses of your past/current conflict management/forgiveness habits?

Paragraph #6: Your Future How can you grow? In other words, discuss how the findings in this assignment/research illuminate aspects of conflict and/or forgiveness that may benefits you now or in the future.
