At my current place of employment, they really make their employees feel appreciated. One of the reasons that I believe the turnover rate is so low, is because they recognize their employees for who they are and let them know how much they are needed within the company. I feel so valued at my place of employment and have since my first day of employment. We get rewarded quite often with good quality merchandise with the company's logo on it ranging from, sweatshirts, gift cards, backpacks, stanley cups, lunch boxes and so much more. The truth is, everyone gets it and nothing special has to be done within the company for us to get those items. On top of that we get annual bonuses which are a plus around the holiday season. With some companies you may have to do something spectacular to feel appreciated but not necessarily at my place of employment. It's such an amazing company to work for that we don't even have to buy our breakfast, lunch or dinner. We are able to write down what food we want and they will order it for us. I literally can brag about this place all day. If they are short and need someone to come in, they over incentive pay which is like a double day worth of pay for you coming in on your off day.

As a Logistics Specialist with 16 years of service in the U.S. Navy, employee recognition is highly structured. Formally, the Navy utilizes Navy Achievement Medals (NAMs), Letters of Commendation, and Sailor of the Quarter programs (may not seem line recognition at the time). Informally, leadership recognizes exceptional work through command challenge coins, public praise (not really) at morning quarters, and operational perks like early liberty passes.
A memorable example of recognition occurred during a high tempo pre deployment supply surge, think not just 70 or 80 pallets of supplies needing to be loaded and sorted, but 500 everyday for a week. I coordinated the clearance and transport of all critical mission parts, directly impacting the capability of the boat and attached units. The Commanding Officer presented me with a Navy Achievement Medal in front of the entire command. Receiving this formal validation made me feel deeply proud and seen by more personel than those I work with on the daily. It strongly motivated me to continue mentoring junior Sailors to sustain higher logistical standards.
One major improvement the Navy could make is streamlining the administrative timeline for routing awards. The bureaucratic approval process can take months, which frequently dilutes the immediate behavioral impact of the reward. Implementing a fast tracked, decentralized departmental spot award system would solve this bottleneck. This change would instantly boost deckplate morale and reinforce proactive performance right when it happens.
