The role of health informaticists combines the fields of health information, data management, and information technology. Informaticists create processes, design IT-based innovations, applications, analyze data to support business intelligence, and improve the quality of health care. According to Health Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS) (2015), 90% of health care organizations used mobile applications to improve consumer engagement and increase the quality of patient care.
For this project, you will identify a population health problem and create a prototype mobile health application (mHealth) to address the public health initiative.
In your final project,
- Propose an application to a public health initiative.
- Identify the significance of the application and public health initiative.
- Describe the target population.
- Analyze the statistical needs assessment for the application.
- Provide three statistics that support the need of your mHealth application.
- Create a method to utilize natural language technology with structured and unstructured data.
- Identify how this will be used and beneficial to your target population.
- Include one image-based biomedical technology that could be used in your mHealth application.
- Identify how this will be used and beneficial to your target population.
- Discuss the data that your mHealth application will collect and the significance to the public health imitative.
- Create a prototype of the application using the mHealth App Design InteractiveLinks to an external site..
- Note: The mHealth App Design Interactive must be completed using the internet browsers Chrome or Firefox.
This project has three steps that you will need to complete.
Step 1: Complete Part 1 of the mHealth App Design PowerPoint TemplateDownload mHealth App Design PowerPoint Template.
Step 2: Use the information from Part 1 of the template to complete the mHealth App Design InteractiveLinks to an external site.. Using the interactive, you will build a prototype of your mHealth app. This step includes taking screenshots of the pages in your completed mHealth app prototype and uploading them to Part 2 of your mHealth App Design PowerPoint.
- For a sample of a completed mHealth App Design, see the Skin Cancer Awareness App PrototypeDownload Skin Cancer Awareness App Prototype. Keep in mind, this is just an example of Step 2 of this project. Feel free to modify the design of the PowerPoint template, as was done in the sample, but just be sure that all content requirements remain.
Step 3: Present your completed Public Health Initiative App Design Project in a screencast video with your camera on. You will need to not only show your face in your video but also present your completed mHealth App Design PowerPoint that contains screenshots of your mHealth app prototype.
The screencast video must be between seven to 10 minutes long. For tips on making a professional video, review the Filming a Video That Demonstrates ProfessionalismLinks to an external site. resource.
