1. Article Analysis

You will write a critical analysis of 800 words (+ or – 10%) on one of the articles discussed in weeks 2-5. Applicable articles are marked with a * on the reading list below.

The article analysis is a sustained reflection on the detractions, merits, and implications of one article chosen from the reading list. The purpose of the article analysis is to demonstrate your ability to critically analyse an author’s argument. You must demonstrate then that you can accurately summarise the argument of the author and offer some critical reflections on that argument.

The assignment should:

Briefly summarise the author’s main argument.

Critically interrogate the claims being put forward, the assumptions (explicit or implicit) that underwrite these claims, and the implications for theory and/or practice that emerge from the article(s).

Point to one or more areas where the article shows a weakness.

Use a small number of additional academic sources (i.e. 3-5) to support your argument.
