Overview
For the "topic" you chose, this assignment is to write a short memo (3 pages) in which you compare Turkmenistan to another country/countries, including a comparison of data. Please read the following closely.
The number of countries you're comparing Turkmenistan to is the number of people in your group. have three comparison countries (but write it all up as one memo). The other Central Asian countries are natural comparisons, but you don't necessarily need to limit yourself to them - just make sure it's clear why you think this is a good comparison.
Your memo should include: -why this topic is relevant for economic growth/business climate; -why this country/these countries are relevant comparisons: -a comparison of Turkmenistan to the rest of the world overall (Turkmenistan ranks 4th out of 170 countries...) -comparisons of Turkmenistan to the country/countries -at least one policy recommendation -ALL OF YOUR SOURCES! Please use the format you used for the "earlier assignment". They should be listed at the end of your report. You can cite these references either with a footnote, or in the text. Either way, just cite with the author/s and year: Minier (2023) finds that.... or Ederington, Han, and Minier (2023) find that... If an article has more than four authors, it's customary in economics to use all of their names the first time, and then just the first author and "et al." subsequently. For something like World Development Indicators, don't worry about a year (for the citation, the year of any data should be clear): World Bank, World Development Indicators.
A note about length: I strongly encourage you to include visually appealing graphs! The suggestion of 3 pages is for mostly text - think of this as about 750 words not including any figures, graphs, or tables.
Normally I prefer pdf submissions, but since we're going to be combining these, please submit them in Word or Google Docs format. We will eventually combine them into a Google Doc.
The deadline here is November 22 as a suggestion, but it won't be considered late if you submit it by midnight on November 26.
