Prompt: Figures 1 and 2 (see below) depict patterns within contemporary distributionsof income and wealth in the US. Each figure holds important implications regarding howincome and wealth are treated under federal, state, and local tax codes. For each figure,discuss why the depicted pattern is important with respect to taxation. Be sure to incor-porate the concepts of “regressive” and “progressive” taxation in your response. Finally,provide an answer to the question: is the way in which income and wealth are taxed “fair”?
