Overview
For this assignment, you are being asked to focus on international trade with China and tariffs. In your paper, you will define tariffs and what they are intended to accomplish for a country that imposes them. In July of 2018, the United States imposed tariffs on steel products being imported from China. You will explore those tariffs, why they were put in place, and their ultimate impact.
In your written paper be sure to address the following:
- What is international trade?
- What are imports and exports?
- What is a tariff and why is it put into place?
- Detail what took place, in July of 2018, in regards to Chinese-produced steel that was imported into the United States.
- What did the Federal government do, in response to the imported steel from China, and did their response help create an even playing field?
