Overview
Researchers in neuroscience and molecular biology are interested in evaluating whether various medical interventions could improve cognitive abilities with individuals who have had a stroke. One of the main methodologies is to test these interventions in mice. In one line of research the authors test electrotherapy—where an electric shock is administered to the neo- cortext. One sample of mice with stroke, called the treatment group, receive the electrotherapy while another sample of mice of strike, called the control group, do not receive the intervention. Cognitive improvement is measured with various tests including grip strength where the mouse is sent on a downwards trajectory on a digitized tray and must hold on to prevent falling off. In the treatment group, the mean grip strength is 98.4 with a standard deviation of 10.9 while in the control group the mean grip strength is 75 with a standard deviation of 4.1. The pooled standard deviation is 14.41. Present a statistical analysis testing of whether electrotherapy increases grip strength in mice with stroke. Ensure you provide a conclusion
