- Critique public statements on macroeconomic and microeconomic topics issued by corporations
- Converse on basic macro- and micro-economic topics
Assignment Description
Students will report on a major event(s) that has occurred within the past 18 months to the company they are following. This paper should include:
- Background and details on the situation (situation can be a product release, an economic trend/issue, merger, controversy, etc.)
- Business analysis – Explain how this event affected the business (earnings, sales, consumer response, stock price)
- Communication analysis – How did the company respond from a business/financial PR perspective? How would you assess their PR reaction? How did the business media react towards the situation? Was there an ad campaign?
- Results – What is the company’s current situation as a result of this event (financial outcome, consumer behavior towards company, public perception)?
Content should include concepts taught during class and/or in the class textbook.
Steps
- Research major events that have occurred to the company you are following, in the past year.
- Describe and analyze the situation and the company’s response
- Present your thoughts in a paper of 4-5 pages, 1.5 line spacing, AP style, include a bibliography page.
- Proofread your paper and upload it to Brightspace by the beginning of class when the paper is due.
