Overview
Structure of the presentation
Your presentation should last 15-20 minutes (plus questions) and follow this structure:
- Why do we care? (≈ 15–20%)
- Main findings of your chosen paper (≈ 30–35%)
- How does the paper reach its conclusions? (≈ 20–25%)
- Comparison with the second paper (≈ 20–25%)
- Introduce the development problem addressed by the papers
- Explain why it matters for economic development and policy
- Provide brief context (country, population, time period)
Focus only on the paper your group has chosen to present:
- Research question
- Key findings and conclusions
Keep this concise and focus on the main results, not details.
At a conceptual level, explain:
- What type of data is used
- The basic idea behind how causal effects are identified
This is a core part of the seminar.
Drawing on the second paper (which everyone has read):
- Do the two papers reach similar or different conclusions?
- If they differ, why might that be?
- Context or country?
- Type of intervention or mechanism?
- Outcomes studied?
- Data or identification strategy?
- What are the main limitations or concerns in each paper?
