Overview
- This assignment is intended for you to apply the concepts of weather normalization.
- Hypothetical energy consumption of a building from utilities bills for 3 years is given in the Excel Worksheet “HW Weather Normalization - Data,” attached .
- The file “HW Weather Normalization Check” is given for you to answer yourself any possible questions and your solution.
- You need to submit a report of the analysis of the hypothetical energy use and the Excel Worksheet that you created to justify your results.
- For weather data use the Weather Data Depot website (LR-R4) to obtain the CDD and HDD.
Note on the report: it is a simple report that should not be more than one page. The idea is that you, as the Energy Manager, report to your boss (me) your findings. For that you may want to make a bar graph to show comparison and report the estimated average energy savings you found.
Notes: - Use the first year as the reference year to weather normalize the other two years
- Use 60°F as the balance point temperature
- Notice that the days of the billing periods are not the same as of calendar days and different for each year. However, to compare actual and weather normalized energy, use calendar days.
- Look at weather normalized energy variations for analysis.
