Overview
lab 1 exercise will use a Single Train Simulator (STS) written in MATLAB to explore a range of topical issues relating to railway vehicle control and algorithm. The key objectives are to investigate the following:
1. The influence of driving style on journey time and energy; 2. The effect of coasting on overall energy consumption and journey time.
In Lab 1, you need to get familiar with STS, and develop a Brute Force algorithm to optimise the train control strategy to minimise the train energy consumption.
In Lab 2, you need to develop a Genetic Algorithm to optimise the train control strategy to minimise the train energy consumption.
