Read Chapters 1 and 2 of the Vision document, and consider the general questions
- “What is the purpose of Systems Engineering?”
- “How is it related to other Engineering and Management Disciplines”
- “What value does it have to society?”
Which aspects of SE do you think could be useful for the UAE, based on your current experience and understanding? This can be focused on defence, or on other aspects of UAE society.
Write a short answer to each of these questions, not just quoting the words from the vision but explaining your understanding of the ideas in your own words, based on this initial reading. We will use this in early discussions on day 1 of the taught week. Feel free to do a quick internet search to see what others are saying about Systems Engineers in open sources if you have time.

For each SEBoK Article: • Write a short summary of what that article covers • Write down any questions that you have about this aspect of SE • Consider the general questions “What is Systems Thinking” and “How is it related to Systems Engineering?”
