Overview
each student (individually or in teams of up to four) will complete a term project based on a real-world case study, preferably from your organization. You will apply maintenance and reliability methods covered in this course to analyze the case and develop an evidence-based improvement plan. The aim is to connect theory with practice and strengthen your research skills.
Examples of topics include, but are not limited to, the following:
- System Reliability Analysis
- Prediction from Failure Data
- Spares, logistics & economics
Maintenance strategy & optimization
Preventive Maintenance Modeling and Analysis
Reliability Centered Maintenance
Etc.
Report Contents:
You are required to apply the techniques (covered in this course / or any other technique) over a case study that you are interested with and to come out with a suitable solution.
Submit and present a formal report that includes the following components:
Coverage:Table of contents:
Includes main headings & subheading with the page numbers of the right hand side
Executive Summary:Briefly summarize the problem/context, methodology, key results, and actionable recommendations.
Introduction:This should include:
The contents of the report The background of the topic
The problem/ systems that the study will address The objectives of the study.
The assumptions and limitations.
Methodology:Describe the system, data sources, and techniques used in detail.
Analysis and Results:State the results of the analysis with a discussion of each stated result. Explain tables, figures, and the findings.
Conclusions and Recommendations:Provide a discussion of the results as a whole and state the main conclusions. The conclusions should be based on the results of the analysis. Draw recommendations that are relevant to the research problem.
