Answer of the following question, your answer should consider how SE is applied to
complex defence or national infrastructure systems in general:
1. The difference between the terms Verification and Validation is generally agreed upon
across the SE community. However, the difference in abstraction between
demonstrating that a SoI meets its agreed system requirements and demonstrating that
the resulting deployed system satisfies the Stakeholders Needs leads to different
interpretations of how and when a system is Validated. Discuss the different
perspectives on Validation and how this relates to factors such as operating domain,
technology, commercial relationships, life cycle approach, etc. From this, discuss the
current and future role for Validation in SE practice.
