Aveda Institute Chicago Economical Arguments on Cleaning Local River Discussion

Overview

Help me study for my Environmental Science class. I’m stuck and don’t understand.

Running through your neighborhood is a once-clear river that has become increasingly turbid from years of erosion, to the point that it is no longer possible to see more than several centimeters below the surface. Some people in your neighborhood argue that cleaning up the river would be too expensive to be worthwhile.

Provide a counterargument to this position by describing two external costs that would likely result from choosing to leave the river in its current, turbid state.
