Overview
Chapter 3 in our textbook introduces several environmentalists throughout history. I would like for you to think of an environmentalist as anyone who cares about the environment (hopefully that includes you!).
For this discussion post do some research and find someone that would likely be recognized by most people in the class (famous athlete, actor, politician etc...) and make a case for how they are an environmentalist. I want this person to be alive today, so no historical figures. Also Greta Thunberg is off the table, she's well known for being an environmentalist, she's not well known for another reason who also happens to care about the environment.
1. Respond to Jamario-There is a famous environmental activist named David Attenborough that has made an effort to try to get control of the climate change. From his research he has proven that the chemicals that are emitted in the air is causing global warming. Kennedy Jr, the son of the late Robert F Kennedy, former attorney general and 1968 presidential candidate.RFK Jr. is an attorney, environmental activist, and author who has been actively involved in advocating for environmental causes in the United States. Kennedy is the president of Waterkeeper Alliance, an organization focused on protecting waterways and fighting against water pollution. He has also been vocal about the importance of renewable energy, addressing climate change, and preserving natural resources. Kennedy is a candidate for the Democratic party in the 2024 US Presidential Election.Robert3. Respond to Michael-For this discussion I found a individual by the name of Hilda Lucia Solis who happens to be a a well known US senator and the first Latin woman to serve the US senate under the Obama administration in 2009. She now serves as a the Los Angeles County Supervisor representing residents of the first district. While remaining a Californian she spent her youth growing up near Puente Hills Landfill in Los Angeles. Hilda has accomplished the passing of legislation to protect low income families and minority communities from newly located landfills. The bill that was passed called for the fair treatment of people of all races, cultures, and incomes and to treat these people with respect in regards to development, adoption, implementation, and enforcement of environment laws. This bill that was passed and has been commented to be a historical landmark for the Californian people. I believe this Individual to show great care for the environment and a strong voice for the California people who want to sustain a healthy environment for there families and communities in which they live. Hello class my name is Michael Hamilton I'm a blessed father of four, three boys and one girl. I'm a full time worker and very active in with my family we play a lot of sports this time of year so I spend most of my time working, school, and cheering my kiddos on at the ball park.
