Overview
In this assignment, you will identify sustainable topics discussed throughout the course. The goal of the assignment is to help you better understand how each topic discussed in your eTextbook intertwine and are directly linked to maintaining the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.
An organization has chosen to hire you as an environmental consultant (you can choose the company, fictional or real); the organization produces a product (e.g., cereal, canned corn, laptops, metal machine parts, soft drinks, fertilizer, pesticide, glass containers, paper boxes, etc.). The company wants you to briefly share how they can better support the sustainability of our planet by creating a sustainability report. Sustainability reports are often used to show the impact a company has on the environment, good or bad. It is also a tool that is used to outline the steps a company has taken or would like to take to demonstrate to the public and their stakeholders their contribution to sustainability. You may not use a sustainability report that already exists; you must develop the report yourself using the knowledge you have learned throughout this course.
Start by reviewing the topics discussed in previous units: nonrenewable resources (Unit II), alternative energy sources (Unit III), global climate change (Unit IV), urban development (Unit V), and our water and atmosphere (Unit VI).
Next, using the Unit VII Final Project Template, complete the following tasks.
- Identify how each topic listed above may have an impact on the company you chose, specifically relating to how the company contributes to sustainable development.
- Explain at least one strategy or solution the company can implement to improve sustainability efforts related to each topic. Each strategy/solution must be supported by an academic resource, which means you would need a total of at least six supporting resources. Note: you can use sources that were used in previous assignments.
- Describe how the strategies/solutions discussed affect your local, state, or federal environmental resources.
Your project must be at least three pages in length. Adhere to APA Style when creating citations and references for this assignment.
