Assignment: Defining Science
Task 1: Create Your Definition Craft a concise definition of science in 100 word writing, using your own words as much as possible. Post your definition on the class discussion board. Remember to be creative and thoughtful in your approach.
Task 2: Peer Feedback After posting your definition, read through your classmates' submissions. Choose one student's definition and provide constructive written feedback. Your feedback should be thoughtful, respectful, and aimed at enhancing their understanding of science.
Example Definition:
Since I was a little girl I have been fascinated by frogs. When I think about science through the lens of these amazing amphibians, I see it as a thrilling adventure into nature's weirdest and most wonderful secrets. It's like being a detective, but instead of solving crimes, we're unraveling the mysteries of frog life – from their incredible shape-shifting abilities (hello, tadpoles!) to their impressive acrobatics. Science, in my froggy world, is all about asking the big questions: How do these little guys pull off such epic transformations? What makes their sticky tongues so darn effective? And seriously, how do they make those awesome ribbit sounds? It's a non-stop journey of discovery, where every lily pad might hide the next big breakthrough!
- Post your definition by Friday at 11:59 PM.
- Provide feedback to at least two classmates by Sunday night.
- Ensure your feedback is substantive and contributes to the learning experience.
This assignment aims to deepen your understanding of science and engage in meaningful peer-to-peer learning. Good luck!
